YOUR HEART EXAM

During your guided Medaica Heart Exam, a Medaica technician helps you record heart sounds from several locations on your chest using the M1 Digital Stethoscope. The exam listens to the structural sounds, timing and rhythm of your heart as it beats.

These recordings can help identify findings such as heart murmurs, extra heart sounds, irregular rhythms, turbulent blood flow and valve-related abnormalities. Your recordings are then evaluated through Medaica’s medical AI-assisted, cardiologist-reviewed process and you receive a Heart Report summarizing the findings from your screening exam.

Heart disease can develop silently, often before noticeable symptoms appear. About 50% of men and women will develop heart disease in their lifetime, yet up to 80% of heart disease and stroke is preventable. That’s why early awareness and action matters and why our mission is simple: Act Early. Detect Early.

A Medaica Heart Exam is for anyone who wants to be more proactive about their heart health.

It may be especially helpful for people who:

  • Have a family history of heart disease
  • Have heart-health risk factors such as smoking, excess weight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes or a sedentary lifestyle
  • Already have a heart condition and want additional heart-sound information between regular doctor visits
  • Want to establish a baseline so future exams can be compared over time
  • Have no noticeable symptoms but don’t want to wait for symptoms before paying attention to their heart
  • Want useful heart-health information they can share with their doctor

You don’t have to wait until something feels wrong to start paying attention to your heart. Act Early. Detect Early.

A Medaica Home Heart Exam typically takes about 15–20 minutes. Your Medaica technician will guide you through the exam step by step and make sure good-quality recordings are collected.

A trained Medaica technician will meet with you by video and guide you through your exam step by step. You’ll also see a virtual guide on your screen showing you exactly where to place the M1, making it easy to position the device correctly and collect clear heart-sound recordings.

Please Note: The Medaica Guide does not diagnose or interpret your heart sounds.

Choose a quiet, private place with a strong internet connection. Have your M1 and compatible phone, tablet or computer ready, make sure your device is charged, and follow any setup instructions provided before your appointment.

Wear a thin shirt or T-shirt to help
make it easier to capture clear heart sounds.

Some medicines can affect your heart rate or rhythm. Keep taking your medicines as prescribed.

Do not change or stop your medicines for a Medaica exam.

Heart sounds are easier to record in a quiet room. Turn off TVs and music and try to limit talking or other background noise while recordings are being made.

RESULTS & REPORTS

Your Heart Report is typically ready within 3–5 business days after your Medaica Heart Exam. We’ll email you as soon as it’s ready with a secure link to view your report.

We’ll email you a secure link when your Heart Report is ready. You can also log in to your Medaica account at any time to view your report.

Yes. Your Heart Report is yours to keep and share with your doctor or other healthcare provider at any time.

Your Heart Report will summarize the findings from your exam. If something is identified that may need further evaluation, follow the recommendations in your report and share it with your healthcare provider.

Some medications can affect your heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure and other cardiac factors, which may be reflected in your exam results.

Please keep taking your medications exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Medaica will never tell you to stop, change or alter your medications.

A normal Heart Report is reassuring, but no single screening exam can rule out every heart condition. Your Medaica Heart Exam is one piece of your overall heart-health picture and does not replace regular medical care.

If you have symptoms or ongoing concerns, please speak with your healthcare provider even if your report does not identify an abnormal heart sound.

No single medical test tells the whole story. Different tests look at the body in different ways - just as an X-ray and an MRI can provide different information. Your Medaica Heart Exam is one valuable piece of your overall heart-health picture.

Medaica Support can help you locate your Heart Report and explain the Medaica process, but we cannot interpret your medical findings, diagnose a condition or provide medical advice.

If you have questions about what your results mean for your health, please share your Heart Report with your healthcare provider.

The value of your Medaica screening is early awareness — giving you useful information to bring to your doctor. Act Early. Detect Early. Helping you to help your doctor help you.

HEALTH & MEDICAL QUESTIONS

The Medaica Heart Exam is a screening exam designed to identify potential signs of heart abnormalities.

Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the United States, claiming a life about every 34 seconds. Yet the American Heart Association reports that 80% of heart disease is preventable. That’s why Act Early. Detect Early. is at the heart of Medaica’s mission.

Doctors have listened to heart sounds for more than 200 years because they can reveal important information about how the heart is working.

While an EKG, smartwatch or blood pressure cuff measures things like electrical rhythm, heart rate or blood pressure, the Medaica M1 listens to the actual sounds created by your heart’s structure, valves and blood flow as it beats. These sounds can help identify unusual patterns such as murmurs, extra heart sounds, irregular rhythms and changes in blood flow or valve function that may deserve further evaluation.

Your Heart Report shows whether key findings fall within normal, borderline or elevated ranges. It can identify unusual patterns such as an irregular heartbeat or abnormal structural sounds, including patterns that may be associated with turbulent blood flow, heart murmurs or possible valve conditions.

From the comfort of home, your heart sounds are digitally recorded through a guided exam and evaluated through an AI-assisted, cardiologist-reviewed process. If something may deserve further attention, your Heart Report gives you useful information to bring to your doctor and helps you start a more informed conversation about your heart health.

Helping you to help your doctor help you.

Your heart makes sounds as it beats, its valves open and close and blood moves through it. Changes in the timing, loudness, rhythm and frequency of heart sounds can provide important information about how the heart is working.

Unusual heart sounds can include murmurs, extra heart sounds or changes in rhythm. These may be associated with changes in blood flow, heart valve function or other conditions that may warrant further evaluation.

The Medaica M1 is a digital stethoscope that records these heart sounds so they can be reviewed as part of your Medaica Heart Exam. If a potential concern is identified, your cardiac report can help your doctor decide whether further evaluation or testing may be appropriate.

Recording your heart sounds over time can also create a useful baseline. Comparing future recordings with earlier ones may help you and your doctor identify changes and determine whether further evaluation is needed.

The complete Medaica Heart Exam, including AI-assisted analysis and cardiologist review, is designed to screen your heart sounds for abnormalities or patterns that can be associated with heart disease. When present, these can include murmurs, extra heart sounds, irregular rhythms and changes related to blood flow or valve function.

Your Heart Report can show findings within normal ranges or identify a potential concern that deserves further attention. That early awareness is exactly why our mission is Act Early. Detect Early.

If a potential concern is identified, your report gives you useful information to bring to your doctor and can help guide the conversation about whether additional evaluation or testing is appropriate.

Medaica is a screening exam, not a final diagnosis. Your doctor makes the diagnosis using your full medical history, examination and any additional testing needed.

We help identify potential concerns earlier - whether or not symptoms are present - so you can take the next step with your doctor..

No. Medaica provides additional information about your heart sounds. It does not replace regular medical care, a doctor’s evaluation or other tests your healthcare provider recommends.

No. The Medaica Heart Exam is not designed to detect or rule out a heart attack.

IMPORTANT: If you think you may be having a heart attack or are experiencing concerning symptoms, call 911 or seek emergency medical care immediately.

No. Do not wait for a Medaica Heart Exam if you may be having a medical emergency. Call 911 or seek emergency medical care immediately.

No. Heart sounds cannot determine whether your coronary arteries are blocked. Other tests, such as coronary CT scans, stress tests or angiography are used to evaluate blocked arteries and coronary artery disease.

Yes. The complete Medaica Heart Exam can identify abnormal heart sounds and patterns that may be consistent with a heart murmur. Your heart sounds are captured with the M1 and evaluated through Medaica’s AI-assisted, cardiologist-reviewed process.

If a murmur or other potential concern is identified, your Heart Report gives you useful information to share with your doctor and can help determine whether further testing, such as an echocardiogram, may be appropriate.

Medaica screens for these findings but does not diagnose the underlying cause of a murmur or a specific valve condition.

Some heart valve problems can change blood flow and produce abnormal heart sounds or murmurs. The complete Medaica Heart Exam is designed to screen for these types of findings and may identify patterns that deserve further evaluation.

If a potential concern is found, your Heart Report gives you useful information to share with your doctor and can help determine whether additional testing, such as an echocardiogram, may be appropriate.

Medaica does not diagnose heart valve disease - your doctor determines the cause of the finding and the appropriate next steps.

The Medaica Heart Exam can capture irregular heart rhythms that are present during your exam and may identify a pattern that deserves further evaluation.

Because AFib is an electrical rhythm condition and can come and go, it is best evaluated with an EKG or heart monitor. If an irregular rhythm is identified during your Medaica exam, your Heart Report can give you useful information to discuss with your doctor.

Congestive heart failure (CHF) can sometimes be associated with changes in heart sounds, including extra or abnormal heart sounds. The complete Medaica Heart Exam is designed to screen for these types of findings and can identify patterns that may deserve further evaluation.

If a potential concern is identified, your Heart Report gives you useful information to share with your doctor and can help determine whether additional evaluation or testing is appropriate.

Medaica does not diagnose congestive heart failure. Your doctor considers your Heart Report along with your symptoms, medical history and any additional testing needed to determine the cause of the finding.

An EKG and a digital stethoscope provide different types of information about the heart.

  • EKG Device: Records the heart’s electrical activity and is commonly used to evaluate heart rate and rhythm.
  • Digital Stethoscope: Listens to the actual sounds created as the heart beats and pumps blood, which can provide information about blood flow, murmurs, extra heart sounds and valve-related sounds. It can also be used to measure heart rate and evaluate heart rhythm.

Both can capture signs of an irregular heartbeat, but they look at the heart in different ways. An EKG does not provide the structural information heard through a stethoscope, just as a stethoscope does not detect the electrical signals that an EKG does.

The Medaica Heart Exam can complement information from an EKG, blood pressure reading or other heart-health tests, helping give you and your doctor a broader picture of your heart health and whether further evaluation may be appropriate.

Both can provide useful heart-health information, but they look at the heart in different ways.

  • Smartwatch: Many smartwatches track wellness information such as activity, heart rate and sleep. Some also include EKG features that measure the heart’s electrical activity.
  • Medaica M1 Digital Stethoscope: The FDA-cleared Medaica M1 records acoustic biomarkers - the sounds created as your heart beats and pumps blood. These sounds can provide important information about blood flow, murmurs and heart valve function that a smartwatch or EKG does not measure.

A smartwatch and the Medaica M1 can complement each other. Along with information such as your blood pressure and EKG, your Medaica Heart Exam can give your doctor another important piece of the picture and help determine whether further evaluation may be appropriate.

No. The Medaica M1 is a digital stethoscope that records heart sounds and does not measure blood pressure.

No. The Medaica Heart Exam does not perform blood tests or measure cholesterol.

Yes. The FDA-cleared Medaica M1 Digital Stethoscope supports both heart and lung auscultation. Medaica’s current Home Heart Exam is specifically focused on recording and reviewing heart sounds.

Yes. The Medaica M1 Digital Stethoscope can record heart sounds from someone with a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator.

The M1 does not check the function or settings of your implanted device, so you should continue with your regular monitoring and cardiology care.

Yes. You can still have a Medaica Heart Exam if you have existing heart disease, stents or have had previous heart surgery.

Medaica can also be a helpful way to stay proactive between regular doctor visits. Repeating exams over time can help with baselining - giving you heart-sound information that can be compared over time and shared with your doctor if anything changes.

Medaica does not replace the care, testing or follow-up recommended by your cardiologist or healthcare provider.

Yes. The Medaica Heart Exam can be used during pregnancy to record and evaluate your heart sounds.

The exam is designed to assess your heart, not your baby’s heartbeat, and should not be used for fetal monitoring.

Yes. A parent, guardian or caregiver can use the M1 during a Medaica Heart Exam for a child or teenager under 18.

The M1 must be operated by an adult age 18 or older.
